About
An assignment that I did in Hawaiian studies was the Hawaiian Hero Portrait. This was a part of a huge project that has lasted the whole quarter where we got to pick a person in history who was influential to Hawaii, do research on the person, and debate with others that your Hawaiian "Hero" was the most important. The Hawaiian Hero that I choose was Duke Kahanamoku.
Why I Choose This and 21st Century Skill
I selected this work sample because of what this project was. I find drawing and painting to be therapeutic so it was nice to be able to paint and relax a bit on a assignment.
The 21st-century skills that this project uses are Information skills for doing the extensive research it took to do the project on Duke Kahanamoku; Global Awareness skills for the things that we learned about the culture through this project.
Growth
Current Growth
This project challenged me by trying to make a accurate enough portrait that it looks like The Duke. It took me a few hours to get the shading correct and even then it wasn't my best work.
New Ways To Grow
I would like to improve upon this by spending more time working on the coloring and shading as well as the backgrounds of the paintings.
