The Decades Project was a assignment where we got to pick a decade to study multiple parts of it. We went into deep research about the clothing, music, inventions, and events of the era. The decade I decided to do was the 1920's due to its large change in fashion after world war 2 and how classy everyone was during this. My mother also owns a genuine flapper dress that is from that era from her grandmother that I was planning to bring into class but never got ahold of it in time.

The Decades Project uses Civic Literacy and Engagement through analyzing past events in the community that happened during the 1920s. I did extensive reaserch on multiple topics during the 1920s, expanding my view of this era while being able to have the chance to share it with others.
During the process of growing my knowledge about the 1920s I was able to analize what happened during those times and understand better what people felt and went through. I was able to grow my understanding of Civic Literacy and Engagement by empathizing with those who lived during that time as well as grow my understanding of what the goverment was like in the past.

I am most proud of how much information I was able to find and retain during this project. I did extensive reaserch for each and every slide, using multiple reasorces for each one and I am probably able to still repeat some of what I learned throughout the project about the 1920s.
The most difficult thing about this project was spacing my workload. I knew the work that this project would entail would be obcene and I would not be able to finish in one night. Mr. Goring was able to space out individual due dates for each slide, but even so the trouble was getting me to do them. I had difficulty knowing where to even start and did end up procrastinating a bit; ending in the project not being exactly as I wanted it to be.

To improve this project I would find more information about Mickey Mouse's origins and do more reaserch on Louis Armstrong as I was lacking a bit on those two slides. Another thing that I could do to improve this would be to memorize by entire script. For this project we had to not only make slides but also make a script for each slide which I would have liked to have fully memorized but ended up running out of time due to my procrastination.

This project relates to all of the History Classes I had to take in the past of Kihei Charter. The 1920s was right after World War 2 and had a great effect on the era, so while learning about The Roaring 20s I was also able to do more extensive reaserch on the war a couple years before. In addition, there was a war during the 1920s called the Banana Wars that not many people know about so it was a learning experience to read more about it.
I can apply my learning of this to the future when meeting elders who lived during a time similar to this. I can now use my knowledge of what the past was like to relate to them more for their life experiences. I can use this knowledge to correct people who try to give me the wrong information.
