About
This assignment was completed in Junior Seminar, which taught us how to apply for a job and go through the interview process. We were given a document to fill out where we had to put references, skills, and if we had worked previously. We even found actual jobs to reference this and build a resume. The Job I applied for was on Indeed, and it was a Dishwashing job for Cafe o Lei.
21st Century Skills |
Pros and Cons |
This uses Financial, Economic, and Business Literacy Skills by teaching us to apply for a business. This shows how to answer questions in an interview, find our median pay (with workplace tax), and go about a job after an interview.
I learned everything you need to apply for a job. I figured out income tax, what questions to answer, what information would be required, and to always thank the interviewer for allowing me this opportunity. I am confident that I could apply for a job if I wanted.

I am proud that I was able to complete this. Specific assignments can be challenging to start if they are new things, so I was able to finish this promptly is impressive to me and shows how I deal with stress.
The tricky part of this assignment was finding a job I could apply for and answering interview questions. I wanted a high starting pay with a preferably local company that would hire a 16-year-old with no work experience and was located in Kihei. This took a bit, but I was able to find a job as a dishwasher. The interview questions were another hurdle due to the dreaded "Tell me about yourself." It took me a while to figure out what to say, and it would have been stressful in a job interview.

What Could be Better |
Past and Future Learning |
If I could change a part I did in this assignment, I would change the job I picked. I plan to apply for a job at Ross in Kihei in the future, and I could have used this perfect opportunity to make a resume for said job.

This project previously relates to when we have done assignments on adult life in the past. For example, in Mr. Satovich's class, we learned how loans work and did a project where we ran a restaurant. We learned about interest and money, which can directly relate to taxes, budgeting, and income for a job.
This project relates to the rest of my life. At some point, there will be the process of applying for a job and going through the interview process, and learning how this works is an essential skill to have.
