About
The Bat Shelf was a little project I did in Mr. Hazlets Advanced Engineering class. The Shelf is supposed to help me organize my jewelry and keep it from getting tangled. The materials I used for this was the 3D printer and a piece of wood from the wood pile. I designed the pattern for the plate and the hook by myself.

Pros and Cons |
The Bat Shelf uses Thinking and Problem Solving Skills. For the 3D print you have to use a 3D modeling CAD software and the one I used is called onshape. Onshape is great for a free program but it can be hard to create objects with curves like a hook. I googled how to create a hook and then I modified it so that the back peice was flat so I could attatch it to the wood peice. This was actually very complex and took me a while to figure out, thus forcing me to use a lot of problem solving.
I learned so much more about Onshape while doing this project. There were so many tools I was not taking advantage of and this assignment helped me discover that.

This specific assignment was very difficult and I was extremely proud when I finished disigning the hooks and got to print one for the first time. It took me around a month and being able to finally finish that phase was very satisfying.
The hardest part of this mini projcet was trying to dising the hooks. like I said, the process of first making the original hooks then flattening one side was very difficult. the reference I had was from 2015 and the software had definitely changed since then. The hardest part was doing the extruding and everything. I kept running into this problem where it wouldnt let me extrude solids and would only do lines which made it impossible to print.

What Could be Better |
Past and Future Learning |
If I could change one thing about the Bat Shelf it would probably be how thick the wood is. because the wood is so thick it is proving to be difficult to hang in my house, so at the moment it is just sitting on my dresser.

This project previously relates to some of the other projects I have done that involved 3d printing. A perfect example of this would be the wings I mentioned in a previous work sample. I have taken all of my knowledge of onshape and built on that to build the hooks.
The tools I used to create the Bat Shelf I will definitely end up using later. When I am older I plan to create my own workshop where I can build whatever I want and with my previous knowledge of tools I will be able to do that.
